When a pandemic kills 98% of America’s children, the remaining 2% are left with superpowers. The government tries to control these children, but many of them flee to find safety and freedom. Ruby (Amandla Stenberg) is one of these children, and she must fight for her life as she escapes from the government and tries to find a place where she can be safe.

In the future, people are forced to live in a society where they are age-matched and must die when they reach the age of 30. Logan (Michael York) is a “runner” who has been living on the run for years. But when he meets Jessica (Jenny Agutter), he starts to question the rules of his society.


Truman (Jim Carrey) is a man who has spent his entire life in a reality TV show. He doesn’t know that he’s been watched his whole life, or that everything he does is controlled by the show’s producers. But when Truman starts to question the world around him, he begins to plot his escape.

10.THE 5TH WAVE (2016)

After an alien invasion wipes out most of the human race, Cassie (Chloe Grace Moretz) is one of the few survivors. She must use all her skills to survive in a world where the aliens are hunting her down. With help from a group of survivors, Cassie sets out to take down the aliens and save humanity.


A group of boys are stranded on an island, and must work together to survive. The boys soon realize that they are not alone on the island, and must fight for their lives against a group of savage monsters.

12.NINE DEAD (2009)

When nine people are kidnapped and held hostage in a remote cabin, they must use all of their skills to survive. With no food or water, the group quickly descends into chaos. As the days go by, the hostages must face their fears and figure out how to escape.

13.V FOR VENDETTA (2005)

In a future world where the government is oppressive and the people are brainwashed, one man (Guy Fawkes) decides to fight back. He leads a group of rebels against the government, and uses violence and terror to get his message across. With help from a mysterious woman named V, Fawkes brings down the government and restores freedom to the people.
