10 Most Anticipated Superhero Action Movies of 2022

Superhero movies have grown in popularity capturing audiences of all kinds. They have truly evolved to reach more people with more underlying themes that are relatable today. Having grown up with superheroes as a role model to be a better person, it’s great to see that there are more superheroes hitting the big screen. Now here is our top 10 most anticipated superhero action movies list of 2022. Get ready to take note of which movies you want to watch because it’s a doozy.

10. The Batman – March 4, 2022

“The Batman” takes the 10th spot with a new Batman at the helm, Robert Pattinson, best known for his role in the Twilight saga. This new Batman movie will be shown in theaters on March 4th so be sure to save this date for your favorite superhero vigilante. The movie’s villain will be showcasing the Riddler (played by Paul Dano) whose sadistic serial killing spree starts to take out key political figures in Gotham. Batman is forced to be involved with what he thought to be just a serial killing spree, but the connection between history of corruption and his family’s involvement in Gotham proves to be more problematic than just solving serial killers and riddles. Everyone is excited to see Robin Pattinson’s version of Batman and just how it compares to the previous versions of this cape crusaders which has included Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, and George Clooney.

9. Morbius – April 1, 2022

A quite perplexing hero takes our 9th spot, “Morbius” which will be shown on April 1st in theaters. Dr. Michael Morbius, a biochemist, is struck with a rare blood disease so he tries to cure himself and others suffering the fate, but the results are a bit horrifying. He gives himself some sort of vampirism with his cure gamble. Dr. Morbius is played by Jared Leto who has a hand in the Batman verse as the Joker, but now he gets to play an anti-hero of sorts. A living vampire, will Morbius drain our blood with this chilling yet thrilling movie about his journey? Morbius first appeared in The Amazing Spiderman comic book in 1971, and now takes its role in the silver screen as part of Marvel’s next movie in its highly successful movie franchise.

8. Doctor Strange 2: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – May 6, 2022 

Another notch in a hero’s belt is the second movie, mystically appearing at our 8th spot is, “Doctor Strange 2: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, which is quite a mouth full to say the lest. Doctor Stephen Strange has been confirmed and will be released on May 6th in theaters. We will once again see our beloved Benedict Cumberbatch play Doctor Strange. Dr. Stephen Strange casts a forbidden spell that unfortunately opens the door to the multiverse, including an alternate evil version of himself. Will this new threat to humanity be too much to overcome, even with the combined forces of Strange, Wong, and Wanda Maximoff? Following the events of Spiderman No Way Home, Marvel fans everywhere are eager to see what happens next in the sage of the multiverse. 

7. Thor: Love and Thunder – July 8, 2022

And just like that another Marvel movie has taken another spot on our list at number 7. “Thor: Love and Thunder” is a sequel to Ragnarok and the fourth movie to the Thor saga. A round up of all our favorites, we will see further adventures of Thor through actors Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Tessa Thompson. The director of the movie will be Taiki Waititi, who has masterfully gained a lot of traction since his work on the third Thor movie and even in his work in the highly rated Disney+ series “The Mandolorian.” The beauty of this film is that it captures and convinces previous actors to reprise their roles in the Thor movies. There isn’t much known on the plot of “Love and Thunder” as Marvel are keeping the details secret, but it is rumored that the plot will be based on the Thor comics, and a bunch of Reddit rumors on exactly how this movie fits with the whole Marvel franchise after the events of “Avengers: End Game.” Regardless of what the plot will be, there is so much excitement and demand from fans for this fourth installment. Get ready for the summer, as the premiere is scheduled for July 8th, which could just be another blockbuster type of a movie.

6. Black Adam – July 29, 2022

Jumping to our number 6th spot is, “Black Adam” a DC movie that is a spin-off of “Shazam!”. It will be airing July 29th and the main lead will be none other than former WWE superstar and action movie star icon, Dwayne the Rock Johnson. A man who was sought out by fans to play Black Adam is actually playing him! An anti-hero who was bestowed great powers from the Egyptian gods was immediately imprisoned for nearly 5,000 years. But once freed from his tomb, he is ready to release his power and definition of justice onto the modern world. “Black Adam” is  the second DC movie to hit the big screens of this year and said to be the one that changes the hierarchy within the DC universe. 

5. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) – October 7, 2022

Our top 5 of the list that will knock your socks off as they are the most highly anticipated movies because of their growing fanbases. “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One)” is at number 5 on our list. A return of Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) as the friendly neighborhood spiderman who is thrown across the multiverse and joins forces with other Spider-people that includes Spider-woman (voiced by Hailey Steinfeld who also played Kate Bishop in the Disney+ series Hawkeye) face off an unimaginable and more powerful villain. An awe-capturing animated movie that brought many people delight with its fresh take and its ever expanding theme of Spiderman. Truly, a movie to watch out for on October 7th for all the Spiderman fans and those who just love great animated movies. 

4. The Flash – November 4, 2022

Running up and snatching our 4th place spot is, “The Flash”. This is the year for the DCU as this is the third DC movie on our list. Finally, a Flash movie has come to be with his iconic red suit and yellow lightning bolt with splashes of Batman that were hinted in the trailer. With Ezra Miller playing the Flash, we can anticipate the beginning of one of the DCU’s younger heroes getting a story told on the big screen. Let’s hope we can make our way to the theaters fast enough on November 4th to catch the beginnings of the DCU expanding.

3. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – November 11, 2022

Now for our number 3 spot, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is a continuation of a well-received Marvel movie. Plans for the film changed when actor Chadwick Boseman passed away from colon cancer. Rest in peace. And it has been stated that his character will not undergo recasting and the original cast has been confirmed to be back on. “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s” release date is set for November 11 with the possible focus on T’Challa’s former lover. Directed by Ryan Coogler, the plot is rumored to be a war between Wakanda and Atlantis being at the center of the movie.

2. Aquaman & The Lost Kingdom – December 16, 2022

Now for the final DC movie on our list, placing itself on the 2nd spot of our list is, “Aquaman & The Lost Kingdom, showing in theaters on December 16th. A sequel to 2018 movie, “Aquaman”, we will once again see our beloved bearded actor, Jason Mamoa. This movie will be expanding on the world of Aquaman and expand on his background story. One of the teasers and images that came out is Aquaman’s new suit! Warner Brothers is keeping the plot a secret as well, as not much is known. We do know that there is high demand and anticipation for the  second installment of Aquaman.

1. Avatar 2 – December 16, 2022

Our number 1 spot has been taken by none other than “Avatar 2”. The first “Avatar” movie was released in 2009 and one of the highest grossing Box Office hits of its time. The realistic CGI was as smooth as butter and for 2009 it was amazing that they had the technology to pull it off. “Avatar 2” is the continuation of Jake Sully’s story with his new found family in the planet of Pandora but not all is calm as the familiar threat comes back alive to threaten the Na’vi. Now it is up to Jake and Neytiri to protect their planet. “Avatar 2” will air on December 16th just in time for the holiday season. The graphics and display of the original Avatar won multiple awards and pushed cinematography to a new level. Now 13 years later, we’ll see just how far technology has come in this highly anticipated film.
